Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE)

“Mentoring is leading other people to do what others said could not be done.”

We are proud to induct Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) into the Susan Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame.

SABE’s mission is to ensure that people with disabilities are treated as equals and that they are given the same decisions, choices, rights, responsibilities, and chances to speak up to empower themselves; opportunities to make new friends, and to learn from their mistakes. Their board is selected by self advocates representing a diverse group of people with disabilities that lead the country in the self advocacy movement.

Through their work, they help build their leadership and confidence skills. Everyone has hidden talents and should share their talents. SABE believes that people with disabilities should be given the same decisions and choices like everyone else in their communities. People with disabilities should be treated as equals with dignity and respect.
