National Federation of the Blind of Texas

“Confidence is one of the key elements needed for blind individuals to be successful.”

We are proud to induct Raul A. Gallegos into the Susan Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame.

I am a proud father of three wonderful children and originally from Denver Colorado. Ever since I can remember, technology, science fiction, and fantasy stories have captivated my interest. Now that I live in Houston Texas, my wife Stacie and I own and operate RGA Tech Solutions, a small business whose primary purpose is to provide blind and low-vision customers with individualized assistive technology training. I believe that everyone should be as independent as possible whether it is using technology or nonvisual skills.

In my role as a mentor with the National Federation of the Blind, I have the opportunity to show younger blind teens and adults new to blindness that anyone can be an independent contributing member of society despite their blindness. Some of my interests include binge-watching Star Trek, crime shows, and just about anything to do with science fiction. In addition, I love reading books of many types of genres. Some of my favorite authors include Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan.

My favorite quote is: “Any teacher that can be replaced with a computer, deserves to be.”
